Newman’s Own Foundation: Google Ad Grants Case Study

The Organization

Newman’s Own Foundation, founded by the late Paul Newman, has donated over $600 million to support children facing adversity, funding community-led initiatives in nutrition, healthcare, and education.

The Challenge

When Newman’s Own Foundation partnered with uluad to manage its Google Ad Grant, the account was already spending its budget well — impressions and clicks were high — but the engagement that mattered most, including camp signups, donations, and volunteer interest, remained underwhelming.

What uluad Did

uluad restructured the account to focus budget on high-priority actions like camp signups and donation appeals, expanded the account with fresh content and targeted keywords to reach genuinely interested audiences, and defined new, more precise conversion actions so the Foundation could track meaningful engagement — newsletter signups, blog readership, Community Fund contributions, volunteer applications, and donations — not just traffic.

Results (2025–26)

During the September 2025–August 2026 grant year, Newman’s Own Foundation utilized $73,602.54 in Google Ad Grant funding, representing 61.3% grant utilization, while driving meaningful engagement across the Foundation’s priority initiatives.  The campaigns generated 75,737 impressions and 10,515 clicks, achieving a 13.88% click-through rate—nearly three times Google Ad Grants’ 5% compliance benchmark. More importantly, the account delivered 4,065 tracked conversions, demonstrating stronger engagement across the Foundation’s highest-priority initiatives.

Key outcomes included grant application clicks: 1,896, newsletter signups: 646, and 100 for Purpose sign-ups: 79. These results demonstrate a strategy focused on driving meaningful nonprofit engagement and measurable actions rather than simply increasing website traffic
